The lake is huge and said to be ten times larger than Sydney Harbour. This was a challenge as the lake is situated between Mudgee and Wellington NSW and about five hours from home base Lake Macquarie. The lake can rise up to 10 metres in a short period of time so this had to be taken into consideration when installing the new mooring block. It's a very picturesque part of Australia and if you would like to check it out call the guys at Burrendong Houseboats on 0429 028 006.

This site is the former BHP steel works which started in 1915 and closed in 1999 with employment peeking at over 11,000 people in 1958. During its 80 years of operation the steel works was the largest in the British Empire and produced steel for the modernisation of Australia including the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Alkira Marine Services has had crews onsite 24/7 for the past 10 months and as dredging is in its final stages will also be assisting with Validatiion of the different zones. With over 1,000,000 cubic metres of sediment dredged and more than 1,000,000 hours worked this has been a monumental project.
